Don’t Rock the Boat, Baby!

sunset view
Recently, we had the opportunity to bring the beat to a river boat cruise!  Lamont hired us to help celebrate his mother’s birthday!  And what a party it was!
DJ Moe was pretty nervous wheeling all his gear down the narrow dock, but the boat crew helped and it wasn’t near as bad as we thought it would be.  Theresa, DJ Moe’s wife, came along to help!  We were given a small corner of the party room to set up in.  There always seems to be a lack of “real estate” on boats, and this was no exception to that.  However, we made it work.  There was no room for the dance lights, and we had to keep the speakers on the floor, but it worked out very well for the party.  As I said, the room was small, so there was no need to crank the volume.  DJ Moe typically likes to stand for the duration of a gig, but with the rocking of the boat, he gladly accepted a seat.
The river boat was somewhat of a surprise to Lamont’s mother – the birthday girl, so as soon as he brought her onboard, DJ Moe got the party started with Stevie Wonder’s Happy Birthday!  The surprise worked well, and as the boat left the dock, the party was on.

River Boat Cruise Gig Opinion

Lamont requested an R&B playlist, with about five must-plays, and DJ Moe was locked and loaded with the R&B Hits for the last several decades.  Even on a boat that was perpetually rocking, DJ Moe got some folks on the dance floor!  Even though the gig lasted several hours, they went by fast, and before we knew it, the boat was heading back to shore.  If you took a peek at the pics, you probably noticed what a beautiful evening it turned out to be.  The sunset was fantastic, and even the mosquitoes gave us a break.
This birthday gig was a huge success for everyone onboard!  Good food, good people, and good music!  What more do we need to really enjoy life!
